It’s been both an honor and an adventure—as well as humbling—to work with Columbia Bank to craft videos around their recent grants to charitable organizations in Pacific Northwest communities. The 25th Anniversary grants, in honor of Columbia Bank’s 25th anniversary, granted $25,000 each to four organizations taking care of children and families in need, while the Warm Hearts/Warm Homes grants gave $50,000 each to four organizations who have innovative programs addressing homelessness.
Very pleased to receive an invitation to the Telly Awards Judging Council. It's an honor to be asked to join an industry body of over 200 leading experts including advertising agencies, production companies, and major television networks. I look forward to seeing all the new fantastic work for the 2019 awards consideration.
I'm very proud to announce that Cascade Crossroads is a 2018 Telly Award winner! We won a Gold in the Non-Profit Category and a Bronze in the Nature/Wildlife Category. It's particularly fantastic as this is the first year the Tellys have awarded Gold, and we won in both categories that we submitted to. The Telly Awards are one of the highest honors in the broadcast and video industry. All of us who worked on the documentary are thrilled.
The first half of 2018 has kept me moving non-stop, thanks to my fantastic customers. New projects have included filming the Marysville, WA, Fire Department for Rhizome Design as they produce a series of videos for the Washington State Fire FIghters Council. I also produced a series of internal videos for Columbia Bank as they launched their cutting edge NeighborHub in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. Microsoft also kept me very busy with several internal videos as well.
I'm eternally grateful to such amazing clients who have been great friends and allow me to work with them time and time again. Thank you!
Chris Cashman and the crew at KING5's Take 5 invited me to come on the show and talk about Cascade Crossroads. As people drive over Snoqualmie Pass more and more are curious to know what the big concrete supports are. I was happy to let them know. My first ever appearance on live television. It was a pleasure as usual to collaborate with Conservation Northwest on their 2018 auction video--the 5th consecutive year. Picking up where Cascade Crossroads left off, you can see where the latest efforts to facilitate wildlife passages over/under highways is going. I'm very happy that they are focusing on the sagelands of Central and Eastern Washington, lands that I love to roam especially in the spring. This gave me an opportunity to show some of the footage I've collected from out there over the years. Check it out:
On April 16th, Cascade Crossroads screened at the International Wildlife Film Festival in Missoula, Montana. Besides an appreciative audience, there was an engaging Q&A afterwards. It was inspiring and humbling to be shown alongside so many world-class films and meet so many fantastic filmmakers. The passion for wildlife and ecological issues was overflowing! Many thanks to Craig and Alicia for putting me up for my stay, and to all the staff at IWFF for their hard work and hospitality.
This week was our very first public screening here in Seattle, shown to a sold-out audience at The Royal Room. Jen Watkins from Conservation Northwest introduced the film to a rousing audience, and it was followed by a panel discussion led by former Secretary of Transportation Doug MacDonald and included myself, Katie Ramine from the Woodland Park Zoo, and Mark Norman and Josh Zylstra from the Washington State Department of Transportation.
It's been a great pleasure to experience the reaction of audiences at these first screenings.
On behalf of all of the team behind Cascade Crossroads, I'm so proud to announce that our film has been accepted into this year's International Wildlife Film Festival, taking place in Missoula, Montana, April 14 - 22, 2018.
This will be our first film festival of we hope will be many in the coming months. Screening details will be posted here as they become available.
